The structure of our Foundation is unique. We provide grants through two avenues of grant-making: partnerships with local nonprofit organizations and through an Ambassador network. Grant applications should advocate for programs that fit within one of the three mission areas of the Foundation (educational needs, poverty alleviation, and services for the elderly).
Non-profit organizations located within in Dutchess, Ulster, or Columbia counties can apply for grants from the Foundation. Grant applications should focus on funding for programs, not general pool funds, and have clear connections with one of the Foundation’s three mission areas. The deadline for local grant applications is September 1.
Foundation Ambassadors advocate on behalf of organizations in their own communities, and those organizations receive funding through joint Ambassador-Organization grant applications. Every Ambassador is a former student of the Red Hook Central School District, invited to work with the Foundation and able to submit grant applications in the fall, and sometimes also in the spring. addition to our local giving efforts, we work with groups of "Ambassadors" who are all Red Hook High School graduates. These individuals now reside and work across the country (and world!) and have been invited to partner with the Ascienzo Family Foundation to explore the process of civic engagement and giving back in their new home communities. The deadline for Ambassador grant applications is April 1.
